Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness

That most frightens us.

We ask ourselves

Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God.

Your playing small

Does not serve the world.

There's nothing enlightened about shrinking

So that other people won't feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine,

As children do.

We were born to make manifest

The glory of God that is within us.

It's not just in some of us;

It's in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine,

We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we're liberated from our own fear,

Our presence automatically liberates others.

私たちがもっとも恐れているのは、 自分が不十分な存在である、 ということではありません。 私たちがもっとも恐れているのは、 自分が計り知れないほどに力に満ちた存在である、 ということです。 私たちがもっともおびえているのは、 自分の光であって、闇ではありません。

人は自分に問いかけます。 「この自分が、すぐれた、 魅力的な、才能豊かな、 すばらしい存在になれるのだろうか？」 なれないはずはありません。

私たちは神の子なのです。

取るに足らないもののふりをしても、 世の中のためにはなりません。 周囲の人々が不安を感じないように、 自分を小さく見せても 何の美徳もありません。

私たちは、自分の中にある 神の栄光を実現するために生まれてきました。 それは、限られた人たちの中だけに 存在するのではありません。 誰の中にもあるのです。

私たちが自らの光を輝かせるとき、 無意識のうちに、他の人が輝くことも ゆるせるようになります。

私たちが自分の恐れていることから 解放されたとき、 私たちがただそこにいるだけで 他の人を解放するでしょう。
